COVID is still here, and while it was looking like things were turning around the Delta Varient is causing a bit of an uproar. Most of our friends have been vaccinated and feel comfortable being in social gatherings. Events are beginning to transpire again including our annual tradition of Best of San Diego and Cinespia’s Slumber Party.
The Best of San Diego is just that— the best of San Diego food and drink. The event was full but spaced out more. Hard seltzer ran supreme as there were so many iterations of it that finding non-alcoholic drinks was more of a challenge to locate. My favorite food was the short rib polenta from Great Maple, the tacos from Puesto, and the chocolates from La Parfait Paris. I was a bit bummed there wasn’t an Indian food choice this year, but it’s not like I starved.
Getting everyone to take a photo together was like herding cattle, but we were able to do it twice. The photos this year came out great!
The next day, we got up and drove to Los Angeles for our annual Cinespia Slumber Party. Up this year was Scream 1 and 2. There was a bit of excitement as Scream 5 had just wrapped, but alas no surprises were revealed about this upcoming movie. Instead, we got Tori Spelling. She made a brief cameo in Scream 2 and introduced the movie before it screened.
We ate at Fat Sals for lunch. Stayed at the Lowes in Hollywood and wandered around Hollywood and Highland. This year we parked at Gower, but for future years it needs to be Lemon Grove or on-site!
This year we had way too much food and not enough blankets. Our cheese platter on top of our Little Caesar's boxes was pretty epic.
Next year, we are going to make sure we have better lighting, better pillows, and a Crate and Barrel platter. :) Each year we get better and better and this year was no different!
