With SB beginning her 3rd trimester- Grant and I discussed throwing a baby shower. Neither of us likes standard baby showers only because it’s the same thing over and over so we discussed doing something different. A baby shower that the attendees would like to go to. We talked about venue, entertainment, food, and prizes. After bickering for about a month, countless arguments that erupted, and dealing with California having a "thousand-year storm”— February 3rd, 2024 rolled around and it was time to celebrate!
For venue— Grant found a spacious AirBnB in Escondido. They called it the Cactus Resort and was owned by a hippy lady who did yoga retreats. The house was spacious and had plenty of outdoor space.
For entertainment— Grant found a magician by the name of Bryan with Apollo Magic. He walked around and did close-up magic and when we were ready he did a full-on show. I have to say— he was really good considering that we were expecting some child magician. He did a great job of including members of the audience, which we were thrilled that he did.
Also, for entertainment— Grant hired a bounce house company that delivered a Spiderman bounce house with a slide. It was a huge hit with the kids…and big kids as well.
For food— I found a catering company connected with Landini’s in Little Italy. They provided appetizers and made pizza with the brick oven they brought out. Delicious.
Also, Rachel made cake from scratch and Tyler made Sangria for us. Both are extremely delicious! And Holly and Jennifer made an epic charcuterie table!
For the actual “baby shower” component— we had games, more games, and probably three too many games. We had to cut games because the group was getting a bit too rowdy!
After everything was done. Several of us went swimming in the heated pool. We sent the guests packing. We opened the presents that people had gotten us and called it a night. Ludo is already enjoying some of the gifts!
The party was exactly what we had hoped for. We found the love and support of all those there encouraging and could not be more excited about raising this child!
